Screams of “fuck, fuck, fuck”, barking, whimpering, laughing and hot moans were a few of the noises that could be heard during the Northeast Women of Drummer Gathering in Toronto this past weekend. Leatherwomen kept pace with their companions, beat different rhythms to their own music, and certainly their noises could be heard far away.
Fifteen women came together in Toronto this past weekend to chat, play and celebrate our hotness as leatherwomen. While most of the women knew one another previous to the gathering, the weekend was one of relationship building, talking about women’s leather, and learning about the Women of Drummer movement.
We were greeted by Central Canada Co-Producer, Dan Madden, as we entered the Black Eagle Friday night. There were few people in the bar at 7 pm when the Meet & Greet began, however, the bar quickly filled up before we left at 10 pm. We were thrilled to have Ms. Toronto Leather, Mr. Toronto Leather, Toronto Puppy and the presidents of both Heart of the Flag and Spearhead also there to greet us. There were ten representatives from Drummer North America, including co-owner Brandon Matheson, and ten women from varying segments of both the mens’ and womens’ communities in attendance. Toronto women present Friday night described their interests in attending the Gathering as general curiosity, Women of Drummer’s emphasis on leather, and preferring socializing with women who enjoy mens’ leather culture. There was a buzz in the air and an excitement to be amongst fellow leatherwomen chatting and drinking together in the local leather bar.
On Saturday morning Women of Drummer hosted a round table for women to talk about themselves, the local and regional scene and the Women of Drummer North American movement. The group discussed some of the challenges facing leatherwomen today. The discussion also included ways one can participate in the Women of Drummer movement all year round through blogs, twitter, instagram photographs, video, gatherings and the annual DNA/WOD contest weekend.
Saturday afternoon featured a womens play party at Club 120. The party began with five dykes initiating a new puppy in a “beat down initiation scene” (picture below) and got hotter as the afternoon progressed. A sizzling femme on femme scene on stage was the backdrop for most of the afternoon as two slings were occupied in the foreground in the main room. The afternoon concluded with needles, crops and orgasms. The weekend concluded with a dinner at O’Gradys where a registration package to the DNA/WOD contest weekend February 22-25, 2018 was given to the lucky winner of the raffle, Youkali. Women of Drummer would like to thank the wonderful Central Canada Drummer North America leathermen at the Black Eagle for sharing space with us Friday night, Club 120 for renting us space, Youkali and T’Hayla for finding great spaces for us to meet this weekend and all of the sexy women who joined us for part or all of the Northeast Gathering!
The gatherings continue in Kansas City, June 23-24, in Atlanta, July 14-15, in Portland, July 28-29, in Pennsylvania, Sept 15-17 and all come together in Las Vegas February 22-25.
